I decided
yesterday
that my memories will be
arbitrary
I'm frightened
colours rearranged
my memories will be of muted greys
through vague inspection
I chose it all
In the harbour
I have seen
unequivocally
all rotation
resonation
hanging with the sky
I'm familiar
I've arrived
drift divided
open skies
I'd forgotten I was here
impressions, response
denial
through colours
through reach
through nothing
Spook the Horses debut album, 'Brighter'. 60 minutes of dense, atmospheric soundscapes and crushing intensity. On 'Brighter', the band layers three guitars, synthesiser and samples with bass and drums to create monumental songs that are saturated and spacious at the same time. Harsh, desperate vocals punctuate the tracks while the guitars slowly metamorphose from storm front to thunderhead to all-encompassing fog.

This review is long overdue. This album right here is the album that finally pulled me out of the "commercial" music world and into the world of the raw, experimental, and sincere. An amalgamation of everything I love about post-metal and hardcore taken to a mathy, heavy, ambient extreme. brineryte
It plunges me into an abyss of sound that's both harrowingly dark and profound, a sonic deepness that swallows light and breathes out an engulfing, cathartic darkness. lecassette8
If you're going to go out in apocalyptic style you might want to have the 40 minute title track playing loud at your side. Bandcamp New & Notable Nov 12, 2013
